Your Officers & Committee members are working hard to keep the Church & Centre running as smooth as possible.

And even if it doesn't look like a lot of work to some .... there is a lot of passion needed to do such a job.

We're all volunteers and trying to do the best for the benifit of the Church and to keep all Services to the best of standards. Without a good Committee a Church or Centre would not work! We appreciate all the work, time and effort every single one of the committee puts in and say thank you to all of them. And a big thank you to our members for your trust!

A Brief History of Wakefield N.S. Church

The history of Wakefield N.S. Church began over 75 tears ago when members and friends gathered in Piccadilly Westgate. Later we moved premises to Kirkgate above the shops, at this time the present day Church was being built on Peterson Road, Wakefield.

The Foundation plaque was laid by his worship Alderman Tom Crowe, Mayor of Wakefield (1937/1938) on the 16th July 1938. The actual opening date of our Church was the 17th December 1938.

The photograph at the back of Wakefield N.S. Church is of Tuck Brewer JP who was also at one the President, he was also the Mayor of Wakefield (1933/1934). Sadly Mr Brewer passed during the building process of Wakefield N.S. Church.

The picture above the rostrum is the remains of our Lyceum banner which was discovered in the cellar. It is reversible, ay the moment it shows two angels and on the reverse side it shows two small children crossing a broken bridge with an angel giving the guidance.
